What is a Buckboard? Aside from being a four-wheeled wagon drawn by a horse, a Buckboard is a brief moment during a Softec meeting when you can slow your wagon, stand on your seat, and share with the membership what your business has done and accomplished this past year.
Softec measures its success based on the success of its members and sponsors. Our mission is to advocate for tech in the community and nothing is more powerful than promoting our members and sponsors. That is the core concept of the annual buckboard meeting and for those who have been around for several years they know this is one of the best networking events of the year.
After our Buckboards we will have the opportunity to see some of your sponsor dollars at work. Softec's annual High-School Robotics grant program recently awarded a total of $3,900 to eight teams, up $400 from last year. Each team will give a short presentation on their program, and will have examples of their robots! Come see these amazing robotic teams share their robots.
The teams presenting will be
- Arroyo Grande High School
- Atascadero High School
- Cabrillo High School (Lompoc)
- Mission Prep High School (San Luis Obispo)
- Nipomo High School
- Orcutt Academy High School (NEW program!)
- San Luis Obispo High School
- St. Joseph High School (Santa Maria).
For further details on the teams and awards programs, see Softec Groups/High-School Robotics page http://www.softec.org/groups/high_school_robotics/default.aspx
