Founded in 1990 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticists, iRobot Corp. specializes in robots that help people complete tasks with better results. The company’s robots can navigate in complex and dynamic real-world situations. To date, the company has sold more than 5 million home robots worldwide, making iRobot Roomba® the best-selling home cleaning robot in history. Also, more than 3,000 iRobot PackBot® Tactical Mobile Robots have been delivered to a broad range of military and public safety organizations worldwide. These robots have performed tens of thousands of missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and are credited with saving scores of lives.
 Pavlo Rudakevych is a research engineer and has led the company’s research and design center in San Luis Obispo since 1998. His team has worked on robots that crawl, squirm, walk, fly and swim. Pavlo will provide an overview of the company, a history of some of the work done locally, current products, and prospects for the future.
