EVC Announces New Officers and Board Members

The Board of Directors of the Economic Vitality Corporation of San Luis Obispo County (EVC) are pleased to announce its corporate officers for the 2010-2011 fiscal year and new Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of thirty leading representatives from the business community and elected officials from each of the seven cities and the County Board of Supervisors. Beginning July 1, 2010, the new officers are as follows:

  • Dave Christy, Board Member-At-Large
  • Michael Manchak, President & CEO

New Board Members

The officers include Candy Markwith, CEO of Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center; Kris Vardas, Council Member for the City of Pismo Beach; Steven Harding, Regional President of Rabobank, N.A; Jackie Crabb, Executive Director of the Farm Bureau of San Luis Obispo County; Dave Juhnke, Managing Partner of Sinsheimer Juhnke Lebens & McIvor, LLP; Tom Jones, Director of Governmental Relations at Pacific Gas & Electric Company; Dave Christy, Dean of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly State University; and Michael Manchak, President & CEO. Two new Board of Directors appointed are Caren Ray, Council Member of City of Arroyo Grande; and Ty Safreno, CEO & CTO, TRUST AUTOMATION. 

The Chairwoman of the EVC Board of Directors, Candy Markwith, marked the occasion by noting, "In this challenging and dynamic economy we face today there could be no greater time for an organization such as the EVC to work in collaboration with our communities, business leaders, and elected officials." She added, "The EVC Board is a remarkable brain-trust of thirty leaders from the business community and elected officials from throughout the region. Our supporters represent every sector of our county's economy and the Board reflects this. I am very proud to serve as Chair of a Board that tackles the toughest issues facing our economy and developing solutions for continued economic development."
