Rocket Science IS Cool!

The January event with Rodney Babcock and Paul Keyes was absolutely amazing.  I know that putting rockets in space is... well, rocket science, but I had no idea how incredibly cool it was.  The props, parts, and pieces that were brought for show and tell were fun to touch, play with, and examine.  Reaching into space is an amazingly brave, complex, and noble endeavor and I have such respect for the brilliant people who make it possible.

The Ares 1 is an amazing rocket that has taken years and years to develop and more money than I can even begin to imagine.  Rodney and Paul did a wonderful job sharing some of the technical details of the design and building of the rocket.  Thank you to Rodney and Paul for such a great presentation.

Thanks very much for your nice comments. Paul and I had a really good time, and it was fun interacting with everyone. I'm glad we didn't lose anyone during the physics portion of the presentation.....

Rodney, it was a very nice mix of information regarding the whole space program, realistic problems in building such complex systems and a refresher on vibrations.  What more could one ask for?

Thanks so much for hauling the props. The cantilever damper was pretty amazing to see in action.
