Ringing in the '10 with a new community site

We are pumped to be kicking off 2010 with a brand new community web site for our user group, graciously sponsored by Softec and powered by the Couto Solutions Community Server Building Blocks suite of products. We now have the ability to keep our group informed as well as continue our discussions and archive meeting content and related information. Thanks guys!

This year is going to be full of exciting releases and product maturation from Microsoft, including the following:

  • .NET 4.0 framework
  • Visual Studio 2010
  • ASP.NET MVC 2.0
  • A new streamlined ASP.NET Ajax Library powered by JQuery
  • The launch of Windows Azure
  • Silverlight 4
  • WIF (Windows Identity Foundation)

Clearly we have plenty of topics to cover in the months to come and we look forward to inviting speakers with experience in these hot new technologies to come enlighten our group and join in our engaging (and sometimes heated) discussions. We all love absorbing knowledge and talking shop, and what better way than to kick it with our .NET buddies once a month in SLO. As always, we hope to see everyone at our next meeting (Steven Griffith will be giving a talk entitled "An Introduction to SQLGeometry and SQLGeography in SQL Server")!

Thanks for the Props!  We are really looking forward to the future of the Central Coast Technology Community.  We feel that having an aggregated place for all the local technology groups to make their presence known will greatly increase the success of these organizations.  Fostering this type of grassroots tech development will create more experts in the area making it more attractive for tech business to setup shop.  I am really happy that we have had the opportunity to contribute to this great new technology resource on the Central Coast.

I also want to thank Justin Schwartzenberger for stepping up and becoming the new voice of the SLO .NET User Group Website.  He will be in charge of keeping the new site up-to-date and he is already off to a great start.

Thanks again,

Justin Couto
