Kim is an attorney with 34 years of practice, mainly assisting businesses with their corporate, contract, intellectual property, and real estate issues and transactions, many in various technology areas. He is a member of the State Bar of California Intellectual Property, Real Property, and Business Law Sections.
He is a graduate of the University of Southern California (A.B. 1974, Economics) and USC Law School (JD, 1977). He started practicing in Los Angeles in 1977, and has had offices in San Luis Obispo since 1990 and Santa Maria since 1992. He is a member of the San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria Chambers of Commerce, the former Santa Maria Valley Economic Development Association, and an early volunteer in the formation of the former California Space Authority.
He was a member of the original group that founded Softec in 1996, and has been a member of the Board of Directors since then. He also served as its Secretary from its founding through June, 2009. He is also chair of Softec’s scholastic robotics support program for the 2011/12 academic year.
