I have the honor to serve as the President of Softec this year and we will continue the great traditions of this organization. While the technology industry has reinvented itself several times since Softec formed in 1994, the core concept of Softec has remained steady. Softec believes that if you connect talented people then great things will happen and that is exactly our agenda. Softec is looking forward to another exciting and successful year and we hope you will be a part of that success.

As a business owner, when I support a group I like to know what my money does. So here’s our report card to you for 2007 thus far:

• Hosted monthly networking events that raise the visibility of the tech industry, our contribution to the local business community, and featured many local businesses
• Highlighted several local tech businesses, raising awareness of that business and the industry
• Partnered with the EVC, SLO .Net User Group, Santa Maria Manufacturer’s Association, SLOSTC, Slocama, and local chambers to support the local business community and assist these groups with their specific missions
• Supported the High School Robotics Teams in Arroyo Grande and Atascadero
• Represented the Tech Industry and advocated for public policy that is pro-tech
• Maintained our 1,700 strong email list so we can communicate with our sponsors and members
• Expanded functionality of the Softec.org web site to better support our sponsors and members
• Softec is bringing leading technology names to the Central Coast like Microsoft in September, and Google in October
• Promoted our sponsors 
• SLO Chamber Mixer Showcase booth promoting and thanking our sponsors for their support

Softec believes in promoting the entrepreneurial culture and we know tech businesses that can trace their roots to a “Softec moment.”
